LG OLED evo C4 Series 65-Inch 4K Smart TV
"The LG C4 OLED remains the benchmark all-around 4K television, offering perfect inky black contrast for late-night movie watching and four 144Hz HDMI 2.1 ports for console gaming."
The Good (Pros)
- Self-lit OLED pixels turn completely off for pitch-black movie night contrast with zero glowing halos
- Four full-speed HDMI 2.1 ports support smooth 144Hz gaming for PS5, Xbox, and PCs
- Upgraded Alpha 9 processor makes older cable TV and sports streams look sharp and clear
The Bad (Cons)
- The glossy glass panel can reflect direct sunlight from bright unshaded windows
- Built-in 40W speakers sound thin for big action movies (best paired with a soundbar)
Washed-out gray blacks, annoying blooming around movie subtitles, and blurry motion during fast sports ruin movie nights on traditional LED TVs. The LG C4 OLED features millions of self-lit pixels that turn off completely for infinite contrast blacks and delivers blistering 144Hz response for gaming consoles.
1. What It Does Best (Key Strengths & Comparison)
- Market Comparison & Alternatives: While Samsung QD-OLED TVs offer slightly punchier color volume in bright rooms, LG C4 remains the preferred choice for movie buffs and Xbox/PS5 gamers thanks to full Dolby Vision support and reliable webOS.
- Infinite Contrast & Zero Halo Bleed: Because OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode: millions of tiny self-lighting pixels) does not use a bright backlight behind the screen, bright subtitles on black backgrounds have zero foggy light halos around them.
- Top-Tier Console & PC Gaming: All four HDMI ports support full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth (high-speed cable standard that handles 4K video at 144 frames per second), with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate: keeps video games butter-smooth without screen tearing).
- Brilliant Dolby Vision HDR: The evo panel brightness booster pushes enough punch to make explosions, bright city neon lights, and HDR video pop with vivid, natural color.
2. Real-World Quirks & Trade-offs (What to Watch Out For)
- Glossy Screen Reflection: While colors look punchy, the smooth glass screen can reflect bright table lamps or open sunlit windows, so placement in your living room matters.
- Average Built-in TV Speakers: The built-in 40W down-firing speakers are fine for the evening news, but lack the deep bass rumble that blockbuster action movies deserve (we recommend adding a soundbar).
- WebOS Home Screen Ads: The smart TV menu is responsive, but features sponsored app banners along the top row.
3. Daily Usability & Slim Wall Mounting (Everyday Experience)
- Razor-Thin Profile: The top half of the screen is thinner than a smartphone, allowing it to sit almost completely flush against your living room drywall when wall-mounted.
- Magic Remote Pointer: The included remote acts like a wireless laser mouse pointer on your screen, making typing search queries and clicking apps fast and intuitive.
Final Verdict: Who Is This For?
- Buy it if: You love watching movies in dim lighting, play modern video games on PS5/Xbox/PC, and want the best all-around 4K picture quality available. Whether watching 4K HDR cinema or gaming on PS5 Pro, the breathtaking picture clarity and inky dark contrast redefine home entertainment.
- Skip it if: Your TV sits in a sunroom with wall-to-wall uncovered windows facing direct sunlight (where an ultra-bright Mini-LED TV might fight reflections better).
